I'm not much for man-bashing flicks; but this movie is about so much more than that.

The racial themes and feminist themes can seem dated but it is well worth watching to see how far black women have come in terms of dating, race relations, familial, especially matriarchal traditions, and it is very self affirming for women who may suffer from low self esteem issues.
