It does look like it's a piece that can be replaced though. But I think you might have better luck just caaaaarrrrefully prying/bending it open.

Number one, I believe in America. Center console stuck. Tonight I was throwing things in my lower center console. It will snap on to it, but it's not strong enough to hold it. When I closed it, I noticed something felt funny, like something was in the way and it didn't shut smoothly. I went to open it and no luck.
Sometimes it helps to try the opposite motion when you're stuck, if you're supposed to push, then pull.

What you cant see is that its hook shaped, which is why you can't push back on it to trip it open.

I of course couldn't wait to install it and after clearing out most of the console I put it on without modding the console latch and it is now STUCK shut. Its definitely stuck at the latch. The lubricant might creep in where needed after some time. I've used thin blades like a dull kitchen bread and butter knife in the crack around latches, sometimes that will get you there. I believe it exists.

Ideally there's a product called Tri-Flo that is the best lubricant for all your car latches, doors and locks and gives you the least chance of stuff like this happening.
