I suppose that is another option for me if I can figure out how to do it; reverse in and out at the pump so now the returns are sucking, and the skimmer and main drain spouting.

Without the weight, the basket floats and debris will bypass the basket right into the pipe.As the suction from the pump pulls water through the basket, debris floating on top gets pulled into the basket.

Don't think it is a clog but something won't come out like a rock or a toy etc. Add some pool shock and your pool should go from soup to sparkling in a few days.Michael D. Pool skimmers use suction from the circulation pump to draw water off the top of the pool, pass it through a strainer basket and convey it to the pump through a skimmer suction line. I think there is something in the skimmer line. Are you able to diconnect the pump line where it goes intothe ground?

Back in my pool daze (sic) in the 1970's, I built/maintained a number of in ground pools. Forums So the first picture shows what will happen to trap the cleaning hose, the second picture shows what I do to combat it.
