This plant is coming back in popularity as the succulent craze is growing. … I like to plant them with string of fishhooks-it seems fitting, and they look great together. We have a fish hook plant indoors in San Francisco, in a South-facing window. NellI have never seen this in Buffalo. However, the longer the trails get, the more difficult it might be to transport it. Mine grow outdoors here in Santa Barbara but they make excellent houseplants.This plant also goes by the names Fishhooks Plant, String Of Fishhooks, Senecio “Fish Hooks ” as well as by its botanic moniker Senecio radicans. Tip: Other names like String of Fishhooks, Trailing Fishhook Senecio or even its botanical name Senecio Radicans are sometimes used for this plant.Do not get this plant confused with its relative String of Pearls. It sits by a west-ish facing window but there are lots of trees outside so I would consider the light a bright shade. Whether you grow Fishhooks Senecio indoors or out, just make sure you give it room to trail!Dose this plant flower or did you have the flowers planted in the top of that pot? String of bananas (Senecio radicans) displays cascading vines of succulent, banana-shaped leaves year round and tiny lavender, yellow or white blooms during fall and winter. I get individual leaves drying on mine in the winter but no stems. It’s great in mixed container plantings too but it does wander & hog real estate from other plants. The plant's small pointed leaves grow single-file along the cascading stems, with the sides of the leaves partly translucent, allowing sunlight to shine through. Very unusual green ‘bean shaped’ leaves are the feature and it is great indoors plant. You’ll see this in the video.Succulents can be pruned at any time of year but spring is the best. These are the ones I have my Grey Fishhooks Senecio in as well as my String Of […][…] on a “string roll” these days. My own Trailing Fishhooks succulent had gotten too long. Other standout picks is the String of Bananas or Fishhooks Senecio (Senecio radicans) which grows very like the String of Pearls except the leaves on this one are banana or fishhook shaped. Fishhooks is very similar to String of Bananas, though the actual leaves are thinner, thus resembling a fishhook instead of a banana!
Watch the video & you'll see. Remember, those leaves & stems are full of water. But I also noticed that a lot of the longer/established one seem to have browned/dried out towards the base of the pot but the lower portion is fine.
