I can see from the character backgrounds that have been provided that there are a lot of different stories that can be told. It is done perfectly. Strike S4E1 C.B. Strike arrives just as Robin tries on a stunning green dress and awkwardly averts his eyes as he explains his CCTV breakthrough.

I approached this show like all new ones - with a bit of apprehension and some minor unwillingness to have to get to know new characters. Robin gets key information from a salesgirl at the boutique Lula visited. The TV adaptation has the same tone and a bit of the 40's film noir feeling as I experienced from the books. Tom Burke IS Cormoran Strike. With strong writing, production and the fine performance of it's cast, CB Strike has quickly become one of my favorite shows and look forward to seeing more. Holliday Grainger is a delightful and engaging Robin Ellacott. The mysteries are somewhat simplified from the books, but that was probably unavoidable, and the best part of the novels-- the compelling lead characters and the way they develop over the course of the story-- is very well represented here. This is such a smart, engaging show!

C.B.Strike is a shining example of how even with a small shovel (the budget) you can still strike gold. I would recommend this show to anyone, I love it! The actors playing the two main characters are great and have wonderful chemistry; witnessing their relationship progress feels so natural. It is that good.
