We have been eating tomatoes off it for the past month (it is now Feb. 28). I am totally organic and use a bit of composted chicken manure (Black Hen), and composted cow manure in our mostly clay soil.

They taste *delicious*. I only planted one in 2011, but I think I will plant two in 2012.Have never had good luck with this variety. I once had some beautiful tomatoes in a bed.

At the moment (Sept. 5, 2004) I'm getting 2 or 3 every day or so that are ready to eat, so we're not inundated - it's a perfect pace for family dining. Always a good producer with the best flavor of any variety I plant. Growers should expect to plant between 3,600 and 5,800 plants per acre in a staked tomato operation, depending on the plant spacing.

It varies with the variety but generally a determinate tomato height will top out at about 5 feet or so.

Did a blind taste test today and without any salt/pepper found the flavor to be on par with Brandywine (although the size of the Brandywines was 2-3 times as big).

On especially good seasons, you could see as much as 20 pounds of fruit per tomato plant.

Won't waste my time again. I used Miracle Grow as recommended on the package, feeding around every two weeks. This can be a tasty tomato when grown under the right conditions.

Since I grow at least 30 different varieties every year, this will not be one of them. Used a combo of good quality potting soil, compost and composted mulch.

I have moved now and my plants are producing good fruit. The low this winter was 26F, but we only had a few nights of freezing in late December and my Celebrity was individually wrapped, plus under a large cold frame. Plant outdoors when danger of frost is past and night temperatures consistently remain above 55 degrees F. If an unexpected late frost is forecasted, protect young plants with plastic sheeting or other cover. My heirloom sensibillities tell me to hate this tomato - and I almost do. Excellent for all types of uses. Plus I dont like the name - nor do I like celebrities.Grew two in an Earthbox and I was pleasantly surprised.

It also has twice survived the winter, including this year. I plant 12 to 14 plants each spring and always have 3 or 4 Celebrity. No problems with blossom drop or BER. I usually grow 50 to 75 plants of this variety along with the Marion variety. Plants are 3-4 feet high as opposed to 8 feet for the Brandywines. The variety produces lots of tomatoes but I experienced an unusual amount of BER with them.

Set plants 2 to 2½ feet apart. Determinate. Also it could be due to the use of chemical fertilizers. Better choices out there.2011 was another horrible weather year for tomatoes in SE Iowa.

Branch breaking marketable tomatoes. Weighing about 8 ounces, they're very uniform (no green shoulders here!) Since this was my first time with this tomatoe ,maybe there was something I did wrong, but it wasn't not watering properly. I use shredded oak leaves over a layer of newspaper. Also trying some Early Girl and Better Boy. Sun Exposure: More than 8 hours per day: It's an OK, easy-to-grow tomato, but if you want tasty red fruit, try other varieties. Some up to 8 feet long. It tastes bad and is prone to sunscald. Lots of folks around here plant them but I will not anymore. Highly recommended but would plant a couple of weeks earlier next year or mix in some short seasoThis was once a mainstay in my garden but it doesn't seem to have the disease tolerance it once had. Cucumbers . However, if you like fried green tomatoes, Celebrity is one of the very best varieties available because the full size but unripe fruit are large, firm, and blemish free. I find that the Celebrity and Marion have similar taste and acidity. I think we had an unusually hot summer that began early in June.
