I fish lake michigan a lot for salmon and it handles rough water really well. My boat does afford a bit more laziness when watching the weather, it’s quick and it’ll handle rough waves, I’m not looking to weather the perfect storm on the water. I have 2 younger kids who really love the water and I want to feel more safer and have a boat with more room and more speed, and a boat that handles the water better, when it gets "snotty". ... but for regularly fishing in rough open water, we'd opt for a larger boat.

But also in those materials what would the best Hull design be. My kids have noticed a big difference and they are pretty young yet.
